A technical source from Sharara oilfield tells Alwasat on Tuesday evening, that the field in southwestern Libya has been shut down after instructions from the management.

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) had announced force majeure at the field after an armed group entered and threatened to close it on Tuesday morning. The NOC said an armed force entered Sharara field in the early hours of the day and instructed the employees to stop work immediately, hours after restarting operations and maintenance.

The NOC later clarified in a statement that "the armed group came from the city of Sebha under the command of Colonel Mohamed Khalifa, the commander of the so-called oil facilities guards in the south."
