Official figures issued by Libya's National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that the cumulative losses of oil production due to the closure of facilities reached 83 million barrels during the period from January 17 to April 5.

The daily bulletin issued by the NOC on Monday, stated that "the forced and illegal decrease in production caused losses exceeding $3.57 billion,"  noting that the Libyan economy and financial reserves are in steady decline every day. The current level of oil production in Libya has dropped to 89,933 barrels per day from 1.13 million barrels.

The Libyan oil expert, Dr. Mohamed Ahmed tells Alwasat that the release of official figures for the losses are aimed at amplifying the issue and mobilizing the political elites to find a solution.
