The Board of Directors of Benina and the companies operating in Benina International Airport refused to investment of the Trade and Development Bank inside the airport to build a passenger terminal.

The two parties attributed their rejection to the fact that this contract allows "the private sector control over a public organization," and want to build the hall with state funding, according to a statement.

The General Authority for Transport in the interim government signed a contract with the bank, in which the state grants the investor the privilege to finance and execute a specific project, and then operate and exploit it for a period of time, in this case the parties agreed on a period of 25 years.

The signing of the contract was one of the reasons that prompted the airport's general manager, Abdullah Al-Shafei, to resign. The board of directors added that Al-Shafei should not have resigned and called on the responsible authorities not to accept the resignation.
