The National Oil Corporation (NOC) in Tripoli signed two memorandums of understanding with the Italy's Eni. The first was the formation of a steering committee to supervise the production of gas at two installations in Sabratha marine basin.
A statement by the NOC said that the steering committee will oversee the implementation of the project in line with the best practices of good governance and work on solving the bottlenecks facing the implementation process. Pointing out that the project will provide gas to meet local consumption and export requirements with a production capacity of 760 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The second memorandum concerns the joint funding of capacity building programs for the industrial security staff of the National Oil Corporation and the Milita oil and gas company through workshops. The workshops will focus on security risk assessment of sites, risk reduction, auditing of oil sites and accident management.
During the signing ceremony, the head of the NOC, Mustafa Sanalla, pointed out work on "rehabilitating the oil and gas sector in Libya, as it is the nerve of the economy and making sure that future generations benefit from it."
