Second phase of Libya's 'Bahr al-Salam' offshore gas field opened

Presidential Council PM Fayez Serraj, and the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustapha Sanalla, were present on Wednesday for the opening of the second phase of the 'Bahr al-Salam' (Sea of ​​Peace) project, which connects new offshore gas wells to the production facility at the Sabratha marine platform.

Presidential Council's Information Office said on its Facebook page that the project "provides stability to the local market supply of natural gas and needs necessary for the operation of power generating units and industrial units on a regular basis."

Serraj and Sanalla made trip by helicopter for the opening ceremony was held in the presence of the regional director for the Italian oil company Eni, the CEO and operations manager of the Mellitah.

During the opening ceremony, Serraj delivered a speech welcoming partners in the 'Bahr al-Salam' project, run by Mellitah, a joint venture between ENI and Libya's National Oil Corporation. He also praised the efforts of all employees and their contribution to the development of the oil and gas sector.

Serraj also spoke about the serious security and economic challenges facing the country, in addition to the challenges of reconciliation. Pointing out that he and the members of the presidential council "are committed to reconciliation" and that it is "the only path leading to development and renaissance," according to the Presidential Council's Information Office.
