The German ambassador to Libya, Oliver Owcza, announced that the German side had discussed the implementation of a cooperation agreement with the Libyan Antiquities Authority to promote the preservation of the Libyan National Archives.
"My colleagues discussed an cooperation agreement with the Libyan department of antiquities to strengthen capacities in safeguarding national archives," Owcza said via his Twitter account on Sunday.
The German ambassador has been focusing on local issues in Libya, and at the beginning of March said he paid an "inspiring" visit to the municipality of Shahat, as part of the cooperation between his country and the Libyan municipalities to improve local governance.
Owcza also published pictures showing the beauty of the municipality of Shahhat saying: "Between green mountains and blue sea: inspiring visit of Shahat municipality. As new partner of the German Society for International Cooperation in Local Governance cooperation."
He added that he met with Mayor Hussein Budruisha and discussed "how to support balance between economic growth & preservation of cultural heritage."
