The commander of the Libyan National Army, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, visited the Benghazi Book Fair on Saturday, which was held with the participation of the majority of publishing houses and offices in the city.
The visit comes "as show of support from Marshal Haftar for the cultural movement in the country," the General Command said in a statement today.
During the visit, Haftar reviewed most of the books in the wings of various publishing houses, stressing the importance of these activities in "enlightening minds and fighting against stray ideas that target the youth of the country and drag them to an unknown fate."
In a related context, the University of Benghazi participated in the book fair, with two pavilions, one for the General Department of Libraries, Publications and Publishing, and the other for the Research and Consulting Center.
The Book Fair was sponsored by the Media, Culture and Civil Society Authority, and supported by the Moral Guidance Department of the General Command forces, and is scheduled to last for more than ten days.
